Last weekend I dove, as it were, into the Rules for Discernment of Spirits at a Seminar at St. Peter Chanel Church with the wonderful, brilliant and humble Fr. Tim Gallagher. What a blessing! Struggle. Struggle. That’s all sometimes I seem to do? How about you? The world around us is so profoundly difficult, in small and of course in the large things barrelling toward us. It gets to be overwhelming, and I lose the trail to God. It is critical to keep looking toward Him, no matter what. I tell that to myself, and to you!

A moment driving up on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles started my thinking about how difficult it is to stay on the narrow road and reminded me what I have to do to DO IT! Old news, usual difficulty in absorbing it.

How often do I miss the reality of what it means to FOLLOW Christ. As soon as the slightest suffering comes my way, I am down for the count. How about you? But He offers us a solution in prayer, in letting Him hold us to Himself. It’s simple. We complicate it. I complicate it.
